Communication with Parents | Carers

Open communication is essential for supporting young people. You can contact us by email or telephone for general enquiries, concerns, or updates.

We can provide:

  • Daily updates upon request to referrers via email

  • Termly reports aligned with EHCP outcomes and learning targets

  • Parent / carer / referrer meetings available on request

  • All correspondence should be sent to admin@reconnect1-1.com or by calling 07599 035520.

If meetings are required, these will usually be held online. Where an in-person meeting is essential, these will be scheduled outside of school hours with a duration of 30 minutes.

Reporting an Absence

If your child is unwell or unable to attend their session, please:

  • Email admin@reconnect1-1.com before 9.00am on the day of the absence

  • Include your child’s full name, the reason for absence, and the expected date of return

  • For safeguarding purposes, if we have not received notice of an absence, a member of staff will follow up with you

Regular attendance is important for continuity of learning and wellbeing so please encourage your child to attend regularly and let us know if this becomes an issue for any reason and we will do our best to assist.

Session Times and Attendance

Our provision runs Monday to Friday, from 9:00am – 3:00pm. Breaks within and between sessions will be timetabled for students depending on their needs. Punctuality and consistent attendance are strongly encouraged.

Site Access and Safety

Only staff and students are permitted to attend ReConnect sites unless prior permission has been granted by the Head of Provision and an appointment has been made. Door bells are located at the front of each site to gain the attention of staff. If you experience any difficulty during drop-off or pick-up, please call 07599 035520 for assistance.

Transport

Transport is usually organised either by the local authority (SEND transport) or by parents/carers directly. Please notify us in advance if there are any changes to transport arrangements or exceptional circumstances that you need assistance with. We have limited onsite parking available at our Thurston Park site.

What to Bring Each Day

  • Comfortable clothing appropriate for active and practical learning

  • Refillable water bottle

  • Packed lunch (unless otherwise arranged)

  • Any medication, clearly labelled, with written instructions (to be handed to staff on arrival)

We advise against bringing expensive personal items or valuables to sessions, including money. The ReConnect Programme is not liable for any loss or damage to personal items brought on site.

Behaviour Expectations

We promote a respectful, trauma-informed approach to behaviour. All young people are expected to:

  • Treat staff, peers, and equipment with respect

  • Engage positively with the learning environment

  • Communicate any concerns or worries with a trusted adult

Safeguarding and Wellbeing

Safeguarding individuals is our top priority. All staff are safeguard trained. If a young person discloses a concern, we follow our safeguarding procedures in line with statutory guidance.

Support for EHCPs and Reviews

We provide individualised learning that aligns with an individual's Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). Progress is reviewed regularly, with contributions from staff, external professionals, and families. We will invite you to contribute to reviews and help shape your child’s ongoing plan if you wish to.

Feedback, Concerns and Complaints

We welcome all feedback and are committed to continuous improvement.

If you would like to share a comment, concern, or make a complaint:

Data Protection and Privacy

We are fully compliant with UK GDPR regulations. Your child’s information is kept securely and only shared with authorised professionals for educational or safeguarding purposes. You will be asked annually to sign consent forms regarding data, photographs, and use of materials in line with our Privacy Policy.

Social Media and Website

We occasionally share anonymised photos or stories of sessions to highlight our work.

  • No identifying details are ever shared without explicit consent

  • You will be asked to complete a consent form at the start of the programme
