THE RECONNECT programme & the ENVIRONMENt

Our Commitment to Social Value and Climate Change

At The ReConnect Programme, we recognise the urgency of tackling climate change and are committed to playing our part in Suffolk County Council’s journey towards net zero emissions by 2030, following the Council’s declaration of a climate emergency in March 2019.

We actively seek to minimise the environmental impact of our services and operations, ensuring that our work aligns with the Climate Change Commercial Ask and the broader ambitions for a sustainable future across Suffolk.

Our approach includes:

Embedding social value at the heart of everything we do – from supporting young people into positive futures, to ensuring our operations contribute positively to the wider community.
  • We run The ReConnect Environmental Programme for young people who are already interested in making a positive impact on our environment. From recycling to permaculture - we follow the young persons aspirations to help and support them with the knowledge and skills they need to pursue a path looking after and caring for their own environment and the world around them.
  • Working towards recognised environmental standards, such as the Carbon Charter Awards, and taking inspiration from initiatives like Eco Schools to build environmental awareness into our educational programmes.
  • Encouraging staff, learners, and partners to engage with available resources, such as free Climate Change e-learning, and to take advantage of local grants and funding opportunities (updates available via Twitter @FundingSuffolk).
By integrating environmental responsibility with social value, we aim not only to reduce our own footprint but also to inspire young people and communities to be part of the solution.
